Chameli ko Poi, the movie presented by Dhana Laxmi Cine Makers, is
a sharp social comedy-drama written and directed by Everest Surya
Bohara, and produced by Ram Narayan Upadhayay alongside Sunita
Sapkota. Designed as a satire of contemporary rural society, the film
captures the eccentricities of village life through the absurdly chaotic
relationship of its two lead characters, Shere and Chameli.
The narrative frames their dynamic as an epic, unpredictable conflict.
Shere and Chameli somehow manage to simultaneously embody friends,
passionate lovers, wedded spouses, and bitter rivals—a masterclass in
emotional multi-tasking. Driven by biting humor, dark sarcasm, and
rapid-fire dialogue, their story delivers a relentless rollercoaster of
romance, petty grievances, and enough unbelievable plot twists and
turns to keep the audience guessing.
Adding fuel to the fire, the scheming bhinaju (brother-in-law) steps in as
the primary antagonist to manipulate the escalating feud for his own
gain. What ensues is a delightfully chaotic, three-way game of deception
where each character plays by their own selfish rules. By the time the
final act unfolds, the movie twists itself into such intricate knots of irony
and manipulation that the audience is left thoroughly entertained and
profoundly puzzled.
