Lokhanti

socical drama

Lokanti (a bridal companion) is a cultural relationship in Eastern philosophy filled with aesthetic grace, and charm. Lokanti is the one who accompanies the bride as a caretaker on the wedding day. Lokanti helps promote tradition, customs, social values, attire, and culture. Essentially, she is also an identity of our Eastern philosophy. Although it is interpreted in various ways according to ethnicity, Lokanti is the mirror of our society. The role played as a Lokanti to strengthen the presence of society is truly commendable. In this film, the struggle and sacrifice made by a Lokanti for the attainment of her love have been portrayed. In the story, during a wedding ceremony between two distant villages, love blossoms between a Lokanti and a Lokante. But society places various accusations upon them and tries to separate their love. Despite familial pressure, no one is able to tear them apart. In the end, even though the village and society stand against them, their love ultimately succeeds. Just as Muna from Laxmi Prasad Devkota’s Muna Madan, Shakespeare’s Juliet, and Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa are symbols of love, Lokanti too is the fountain of love in our Eastern philosophy.
